Byron McWilliams has been playing the drums
professionally for more than 20 years. He is
currently working with the Dixie Power Trio, a
quartet that plays an eclectic mix of zydeco,
Cajun music, and New Orleans jazz.

Byron performed and recorded with the popular
rhythm and blues band, Jr. Cline & the Recliners
for ten years and has also played with a number
of well-known area musicians, including jazz
guitarist Chuck Underwood, jazz vocalist
Pam Bricker, blues singers Nikki Gonzalez and
Cathy Ponton King, and honky-tonk/rockabilly band
Ruthie & The Wranglers. He is the recipient of the
1992 award for “Best Score” from the New York
University Film Festival for his work composing
and producing the soundtrack for the
internationally-acclaimed film Elysian Fields.

Byron attended the Peabody Conservatory of
Music in Baltimore and the Drummers’ Collective
in New York City. He is a native of Annapolis
and now lives in Rockville, Maryland with
his wife and three daughters.
